Acts of Happiness
WHAT?
As part of our Campaign for Happiness, we publish a new Act of Happiness every day here and at twitter.com/toptipsdotcom (How to use twitter). These are purposefully simple things anyone can do to make them and the people around them happier, like remembering what you're grateful for or...
WHAT??
Today we are asking everyone to pay for the person behind you in the queue. At the newsagents, at the café, at the supermarket - wherever. We do practise what we preach, if not always successfully!
WHAT FOR?
Lots of reasons: it'll make you feel good; it will make others feel good; it's a good cause (the campaign is being run in aid of Cancer Research UK); and you may well win something wonderful.
If you commit an Act of Happiness and tell us how it went for you, you will be entered into our weekly draw to win fabulous prizes. PLUS, the best entries, judged by the Top Tips team, will also win further plaudits, discounts, special offers from our partners, including Wahanda.com and theOutnet.com. Or recommend your own Act of Happiness for us to tweet in your name.
Enjoy these extracts from the story so far or follow the whole saga, act by act, at twitter.com/toptipsdotcom.
WHAT'S THAT?
The uninitiated may first prefer to read our guide on How to use twitter - or ignore twitter altogether, just do something happy and tell us how it went! As did Elliecat, our first ever Happiness Hero:
"Inspired by #aoh 3, we've organised a whole-floor cake day at work to raise money for charity. A lot of people have brought in baked goods (ok, some bought goods too, but it's all for charity) and colleagues from other floors are popping down and buying a slice or two with the proceeds going towards charity. I'm having chocolate cake for breakfast ;-) - that should be another Top Tip for Happiness!" - Elliecat, 3 July 2009
