Recognise your true self, be your true self and you will love yourself. We all play roles in life: spouse, mother, daughter, friend - each one sometimes very different from the other. Identify the you that is absolutely honest, with high self-esteem and confidence, as this is your true self. The next step can be difficult, but highly rewarding, bring your true self into all of your other 'roles'. You have only one life (this time round), live your true life and love your life.

Every so often take inventory of your persoality. Step back and pretend that are someone else who is considering inviting you to a party, fixing you up with millionare or offering you for a job. Make a list of 5 things about yourself that you like and will never change. And don't worry if you don't think you're the most beautiful girl in the world - you don't want to be conceited! As I always say, I'm so smart, if I were pretty it would be overkill!

At the end of every day, write down 5 things you are thankful for. This can be as trivial as the train arriving on time, or the fact that you had time to watch your favourite TV show. Getting into the habit of practising gratitude means that positive thoughts will come more easily and correct negative thoughts which are only sabotaging your happiness and preventing yourself from being who you really are. Keep this up for a week and you'll be surprised.. normally we spend too much time mulling over all the annoying things that happened so we don't really feel the power of the positive things. Writing your positive thoughts down makes them (and YOU) even more powerful!

Think about the things that you have achieved/done that you are really proud of and that will give you a warm glow inside. When I'm feeling a bit low about myself, I think of my children who are all growing up to be happy, confident, considerate and successful young people, I take pride in the fact that I've helped them to grow into such great human beings.
