Only lean tissue burns calories so this is what you need more of. If you crash diet and lose more than 2lb a week your body ditches mainly muscle as it thinks you are starving and slows your metabolism. Therefore unless you want to end up with more body fat you should never lose more than 2lb a week. (Fat is also 10 times bigger than muscle so you definitely don't want your losses to be muscle!)
Interval training increases metabolism. Train at 85-95% of your maximum heart rate for 30 seconds then drop down to about 70% for 90 seconds. Start off doing at least 20 mins 3 times a week and work your way up from there. The easiest way to do it is by combining sprinting and walking uphill. It really works!

Always eat breakfast within half an hour of waking up in the morning, and take a cold shower in the morning too. Eat several small meals each day. I eat 5 or 6 times per day. Another helpful thing is to move around at least once an hour, if you have a sedentary job...go climb up and down the stairs a few times, take a quick walk around the building, just 5 quick minutes of moving ever hour will help a whole lot. Consistency is really the key. Strength training is really essential, also. A few resistance bands at home can do the trick...you don't have to become a gym queen to get nice results.
