Eat before you go out- alcohol hitting an empty stomach is a bad idea.
Don't drink cheap nasty wine- something that is of better quality won't get you wrecked, nor give you the awful hangover.
Alternate between drinks and soft drinks. E.g. Jd+coke, coke, Jd+coke, coke- no one will know, if that is what you are embarassed about.
You don't have to drink as much as the others- some people have hollow legs, it is not necessarily a good thing. Save your liver!
Also don't down, sip, much more ladylike! Pace yourself.
You can still go out and not drink and have fun- the two should not become dependent on each other.
My grandmother apparently had a great idea. She would have one G & T at the beginning of the night, and when anyone asked her if she wanted another she would say that her current one was a bit strong - could she just have a top up of tonic in it. She repeated this throughout the evening and everyone always saw her with a full glass, but actually she only had one shot all evening!
Eat something before you go out. Even if you don't have a lot of time, a sandwich is better than an empty stomach. A tip which my mother gave me was to eat some butter before going out drinking, as it lines the stomach and makes it less likely for you to throw up.
Also, don't mix your drinks too much. Beer, wine, champagne, vodka and tequila is a mix which will cause a significant hangover the following day. If you must switch drinks, never go from a high degree to a low one, as this messes up your body quite a lot and makes you drunker faster. Try to drink non-alcoholic drinks between alcoholic drinks.
Also, I advise only to do shots if you're either prepared to get s**t-faced, or have a high tolerance. And don't forget to take care of your girls!
Don't worry about it! Your mates aren't going to hold it against you if you can't drink much! Alll my mates are quite jealous of me as I'm a bit of a lightweight, because I don't spend half as much money on alcohol as they do!!
Definately eat plenty before you go out, if you feel yourself going when your out buy a packet of crisps or nuts, water also works really well. If your drinking spirits make sure you ask for them to the top with the mixer so they last longer & don't drink doubles.
what i alway do is eat before, so your not drinking on a empty stomach. this gives you a head start straight away, then drink diluted alcoholic drinks. and give it time in between of each drink. you shouldnt get drunk if you do these things!
I agree with some of the other tips here. Spacing out your drinks with non alcoholic ones is a good idea. I usually get something refreshing with plenty of ice e.g. J2O or blackcurrant and soda. There are also loads of great non alco cocktails with bits of fruit and stuff in. The other advice I would give is don't try to keep up with other people, especially if you are not a hardened drinker as that can be fatal and you'll end up really wasted. Also, avoid being bought drinks because you end up downing them to be polite and before you know it you've had too much especially if your doing shots!!!
Drink what ever your drinking slow and don`t get to crazy because if you do get too crazy then all you want is more. Just moniter what your doing at all times.
Drink LOADS of water during the day before you go out - I'm talking litres and litres. It helps stop you getting too pissed and makes you not have too much of a hangover.
Stick to one kind of drink and don't drink too fast.
Ultimately, drink within your limits!
Make sure you eat well through the day and drink plenty. Before you start drinking, drink a whole glass of milk to line your stomach. Also take it slowly throughout the night and make your drinks last. Once you start feeling quite tipsy move on to soft drinks.
