I find that if you use a light fleshy colour or french manicure pink, you don't have to worry about borders and streakes as it just blends in with your natural colour and you walk away with clean looking manicured toes. If your'e in a real rush, slip your jimmy choos on, polish then away you go!
Paint those toes with wild abandon! Just do it in the evening so they can dry completely before you go to sleep. In the morning shower any polish slopped on your skin will practically wipe away!
To ensure that every nook and crany of my toenail is painted, i sort of slosh it on, even if it gets on the skin. Then let it completely dry and have a shower. The next day, i wear my trainers all day, and when i get home, i have a perfect pedicure! The sweat from the your feet inside trainers all day practically wipes away the nail polish from your skin. Do this a few days before going somewhere important!
To avoid being a contortionist I have found the best way to paint my toenails is to sit on the stairs. My feet are instantly raised nearer to me on the steps below so that I can easily reach them and maintain my balance.
Make sure that you buff and file before hand. I don't know about anyone else, but my toe nails have grooves and bumps in (from wearing silly uncomfortable fashion shoes), apply a base coat and then paint away. With a smooth canvas you'll find that whatever colour you paint your toes they'll look fab!
If I sit on the sofa and keep one foot on the floor as normal and put the other up on the edge of the coffee table on front of me (with my knee bent) I can comfortably lean forward and paint the nails of the raised foot.
Just take your time! Put your foot on a magazine so that you don't dump the polish. Make sure your hand is steady. And if you make a mistake, you know what they always say, "If at first you don't succeed, try try again!!"
Make sure you have a really great nail polish remover!!!
first of all apply basecoat, then seperate your toes with a nail divider or cotton wool. Then evenly apply a light application of your choosen colour (never apply a thick layer as this is what causes mess also it will take longer for the nail to dry) wait 5 minutes and the apply a second coat. After thats dried apply basecoat on top to stop chipping and to make the nail colour look smooth.
