Wash your hair normally with shampoo, then apply conditioner, comb this through your hair, as the smooth conditioning cream helps tackle knots before they're a problem out of the shower. Then rinse out the conditioner with cold water, this makes your hair folicles snap shut and soak up the conditioner! It works a treat!
If you want thicker wavy hair, depending on the length, I would recommend braiding it the night before. When you take the braids out in the morning your hair will have much more texture. I have medium length hair and do this using four braids and it works a treat!
My problem, exactly, so will be interested to see your replies. however I do use a shampoo which says "volumizing" on it, which helps a bit. and in America you can buy "volumizing" hairspray, both of which help a little. also, I'm sure you know this one, but put your head upside down and give your hair a good spray with lacqueur. Let it dry and then gently comb just the really necessary bits!
If your hair is well treated you'll have more volume and shine added to it.
Try this treat, it's a mask you can easily make at your kitchen bench.
1 yolk
1 table spoon of olive oil per yolk
mix this together in a little bowl. Comb it trough your hair and leave it there for at least 20-30 minutes.
rinse with clean water beneath 30 degrees.
After my fifth pregnancy, strands of my hair showed up more than usual in the hair brush. A remedy that worked but "stank" at the same time was apple cider vinigar applied full strengh and directly onto my scalp. Overnight, once or twice a week treatments gave me my hair back after three to four weeks. Thank you girls, for alternative ideas.
I've asked my hairdresser about this, because my hair is thinning slightly as I mature. She recommended using a clear 'Cellophanes' type product that coats the hair without changing it's color. That may help to add bulk to your hair.
If it's straightened, try wearing it a little less straight - less time with a relaxer or other straightening product. Texture will also make your hair look thicker - remember when braiding your hair gave it soft waves and seemed to add bulk?
One thing, is stop wearing pony tails. IF u must pull it back, do a half pony wth a clip instead of an elastic. Or even better, a headband, or a twist at your neck so there isnt tension on the roots of ur hair.
Olive oil. A tablspoon of it usually is enough, put it in your hair, and cover with a plastic shower cap (it keeps the heat in to accelerate the absorption, and saves the cushions on the sofa while you watch a dvd and do your nails etc...) Leave on for as long as possible. (Indian women suggest 6 hours.) and then wash out with a gentle shampoo. You will need to wash it many times before its finally out but once its gone you are left with really volumous soft hair.
If you want that Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen kinda thicker wavy hair... Sea Salt & Water in a spray bottle. Spray into wet hair. air dry for wavy to kinky. blow dry for volume
Thicker means more follicles and short of transplanting them, I don't think it's possible for your scalp to create additional hair follicles. As to the fineness or courseness of your hair, that has to do with the hair shaft diameter, which can't really be changed, either.
Massaging your scalp will bring more oxygen to the area and stimulate your follicles, which is good. There are also hair texturizing products which will give your hair the appearance of a different texture.
When my boyfriend passed away suddenly my hair started to get thinner, probably through stress. I tried everything but 6 months ago started taking Boots own version of Hair, skin & Nails. My hair is now growing back quite quickly and is thicker.
If your hair is not dirty and just needs a freshen up try missing out the shampoo stage and just use conditioner. I've got fine hair and it really makes it look and feel thicker when I do this. Also it's less flyaway.
BACKCOMB!!! I swear by it! Don't go OTT as you will end up more like Amy Winehouse or Russell Brand than you want! Just lift your hair up and backcomb bits underneath to give more volume and the impression of thicker hair. Spray some Treseme Freeze hold spray on when finished and voilla, thick hair!!
