Another good tip to prevent pollen disasters is the moment your floral arrangement is in the vase, get some tissue and scissors and snip off the bits of pollen into the tissue and toss in the bin - you can avoid the nasty stuff altogether.
Don't go near it with water! Gently blow off any pollen, then roll some sticky tape around your fingers, and use the tape to dab off the pollen. Keep rotating the tape and dabbing until it all comes away.
If you brush your clothes on lillies and get the pollen on your clothes - don't rub it or try and get it out with a wet cloth - this will only make it stain worse. As soon as you have noticed the lily pollen place the item of clothing on a flat surface and take a strip of sellotape and place gently over the pollen, then pull it off - the pollen should now be on the tape, if it does not all come off repeat with a clean bit of sellotape - this always works - to my amazement!!
Similar to sticky tape, and works first time, every time...bread. Just rub the pollen with any type of fresh bread and the pollen disappears! Then all you have to do is clear up the crumbs!
Don't panic! I did this the last time someone bought me lillies. I got it on my white top. I wiped it with some old tights and it just brushed off! Amazing! After a wash there was no noticeable stain at all! Might not work on fabrics that aren't cotton/wool, but its worth a try? :)
