Twice a day sit in a bowl of warm water with a few drops of lavender oil and a few tea tree this stops infection, heals and is great for soothing when they get really itchy!

How to heal post-birth stitches fast

WALK!! thats the solution. becos, walking helps the circulation of the blood which will help healing of the affected area faster. i know, it will be painful and uncomfortable but getting up and walkabout does help. on the other hand the more you rest on bed will slow down your overall circulation and hence slow down the process of healing. also remember to keep yourself clean and happy and enjoy baby :)

Twice a day sit in a bowl of luke warm, salt water. I had really bad stitches when I had my first child, and a nurse taught me this. It really helped me. I hope it helps you.

A friend passed on some indispensable advice to me on this subject: Don't look at your stitches. She says that it helped her get over them quicker, as whilst they felt strange she didn't know what it looked like and when the time came to getting back to being intimate with her husband it was far easier and less stressful. I'm sticking to this when mine arrives. Good luck!

keep the area as clean as possible i showered twice a day then put dry gauze pads over the stitches so nothing rubbed against them & i had no roblem at all.

Vitamin E oil can help with healing. You can buy these as capsules to be taken orally, but just snip the capsule open and apply the oil directly to the area. I found looking at the stitches helpful as I knew then what I was dealing with.

take Arnica tablets - they are a homeopathic remedy available from health food shops (try holland and barret) that help the body heal more quickly.

Wheat germ oil is even better than Vitamin E oil for healing scars. You can find capsules at health stores, just break them open and apply the oil 2-3 times a day. It smells a little funny, but is well worth it. My 2 year old neice fell and split her forehead and I gave my sister wheat germ oil to put on the cut. It is no longer visible and it was almost long enough for her to need stitches.
