It is preferable to sleep on silk pillows so when you wake up, your hair is in top condition! No more bad hair day! And it is especially good after you've had a blowdry, it makes your do last longer!
Dry, dull hair can result from several factors. First, if you have hard water, buy a good shower filter. This is key to lessen mineral deposits that dull and dry the hair (also great for your skin). Use a good shampoo with natural ingredients (Phyto is great) and a conditioner with Keratin (Aestelance is the best I've tried). If you must blow dry, shorten your drying time with a super-absorbent hair towel (Aquis works best) and use an Ionic dryer which will dry hair faster with less damage. It is also very important not to use any styling products which contain alcohol. Also use a Shine Serum once it's dry.
Flaxseed Oil (also known as Linseed Oil) from H&B is also fab for keeping hair in good condition. Just wash out with baby shampoo and use once a month minimum. Don't use Olive Oil as it is much harder to wash out than Coconut and Flaxseed.
I am not a hairdresser and, until recently, would much rather go to the dentist than the hairdressers! However, having reached a certain age now, I appreciate, finally, just how important visiting a trusted hairdresser is. Mine keeps my hair in good condition with regular trims and advice and also knows how useless I am with styles etc so cuts it in a way she knows I can manage. In the last few months I have had more compliments about my hair than I have in years. I have also been advised by another hairdresser that the 'wash and go' type shampoos are not that good for your hair, can't remember why though.
Read labels, look for conditioners without alcohol.
(Yes they do exist- but they are pricey.) If you wash your hair everyday skip the shampoo once in awhile and just use the conditioner.
I wear conditioner overnight and rinse it out in the morning if I have an event the weather is predicting high humidity.
once a week, cover your hair in olive oil and leave for 15-30 minutes ( depending on how bad condition your hair is in) it realli works! make sure you wash your hair twice afterwards though to avoid greasy hair!
Try coconut oil. This can be bought at most hairdressers, salons, pharmacies or Indian herb stores.
Follow the directions for heating it up on the bottle.
Massage it into your head, scalp and all over your hair. Leave in for 24 hours (overnight as well!)
Wash out the next day.
Remember:
Tie your hair into a high bun, and make sure your fringe/bangs are clipped back.
Keep a soft towel on your pillow overnight so your hair doesn't permenately frangrace the pillow.
Washing the oil out can be tough. You must use alot of shampoo to get it out.
If your hair is very curly, wash it at least once a week. My hair is usually wavy or straight, and I wash it every other day. Limit the amount you use your heated styling products (straighteners or curling tongs) to avoid damaging your hair and getting split ends. Once a week use a good conditioner and leave it on for about 30 minutes then rinse it out. Your hair should be lovely and silky.
people are always trying to do better. thats not always a good thing, if your hair is already shiny. you dont need to put more moose. keep your hai in good condition but only using things you need. like shampoo.
