How to store jewellery

I use a tie or belt hanger to hang my everyday necklaces on. They spin on the hanger and keep de-tangled!

Buy some really cheap plain wooden photo frames (the type from Ikea that cost £1 for 3) take out the back and glass and stretch a piece of fabric over the frame. Stick down the edges at the back with superglue. Push your earrings through the fabric in pairs all over the canvas. You can even hang the panels as a decorative element on your bedroom wall - choose pretty fabrics that go with your colour scheme.

This is the best way to store your earrings so you can see every pair... Cut a large square out of an old T-shirt. Get a trouser coat-hanger (the one with those grips at either side) and hang it up as if you are hanging an item of clothing. You can then hang all all your earrings on the piece of material by putting them straight into the fabric. I put all my earrings with backs on them at the top and in the middle of the material and the ones that have the big hooks are along the bottom! I put a nail in the wall, hooked the hanger on it and can see all my earrings perfectly!

Buy a shadow box, size depends upon how much jewelry you want to hang, at your local craft store. Cover the back loosely or tightly, purely asthetics, with your favorite color of velvet. Thereafter, use hooks, pic hangers, whatever you find pleasing. When finished, you have a lovely place to hang necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings. As an added bonus, you have a door that closes and you can see exactly what you have inside of the shadow box while you are dressing. I recommend hanging the shadow box in your bathroom or near your closet so you can accessorize while you dress!

Save the tiny ziploc bags that come on new clothing (with the extra button or thread) and drop your necklaces or earrings into these before stashing in your travel bag.

If your jewellery is in a mess and all you can see is a big pile of it you’ll never wear any of it. So store small pieces such as earrings and rings in ice cube trays. They stack easily too.

Hang necklaces from coat hooks in a row on your bedroom wall. It looks really pretty and keeps them tangle-free.

After you've used babywipes, let them dry out and wrap jewellery in them. Works EVERY time. Keeps jewellery polished and not damaged at all.

If you have a bit of space, you could use a cork bord and some pins or tum-tacs. You can hang all of you necklaces, bracelets and dangely earrings out of the pins and there always in sight so you never foreget you have stuff, like I do all the time!

JEWELRY such as earrings come with cardborad backs when you buy them from a store. ( or you can make your own from index cards cut down). This way you will never find only one earring..they will be together. Use Zip lock bags to store cards. ..cover a shoe box with fabric use this to hold your cards in ziploclock set...and have a great jewelry box.

I've founD this to be the easiest way to keep knots etc out of jewelery. Take one of those notice boards (the cork ones which you can push pins into) and stick it to the side of your wardrobe. Stick colourful pretty push pins in the cork in rows and hang your jewelery up on that, it actually look realLy nice when its filled up!

Hang necklaces and bracelets on a mug tree - wooden ones look really good when they're full of your favourite jewellery!

Use the small plastic resealable bags that spare buttons and glitter bits come in or if you have the space store your jewellery in the square Ferrero Rocher boxes that have individual sections. This makes it a lot easier to see your pairs of earrings etc.

I purchased a small metal garden trellis to hang my necklaces on. The bars are straight across so the necklaces hang by using the clasp over the bar. I use a wrought iron Eiffel Tower to hang earrings on.

Best way to store necklaces, chains, bracelets and hook earrings is... go out and buy one or two pretty dreamcatchers (the ones made like a web with thread and feathers and beads- charity shops like oxfam and amnesty do really really nice ones and the money goes to a good cause too :) ) if you have shelves then pin them one on each side so they hang down and can twirl freely. Attach all your chains and bracelets etc. and the end result looks lovely!

To hang any necklaces or bracelets, put about 3 pins into your wall all at different hights, and let your jewlery hang on them. It lookes really nice and lets you see what selection you have got, instead of them all being stored in a box

Be aware that storing certain real (not faux) jewellery in plastic - esp. airtight "ziploc" bags - or baby wipes could cause harm and devalue the jewellery. Pearls and opals come to mind. Pearls should be stored on acid-free tissue (or natural velvet or silk) of a similiar color to the pearl (white for white, grey for grey; never red/pink for white as the color may tint the pearls!). Babywipes -- used or otherwise -- would ruin the natural luster (and the value). Similiarly, opals need high-humdity environments or they crack. When it comes to real jewellery, best to talk to a jeweller about the proper stroage. (PS - Bank vault/safety deposit boxes are secure but not always ideal for storing certain jewellery and watches. The vaults tend to be very dry/low humidity which dries out stones and the oils from watches.)
