If it cannot be removed with a sterile needle then try a sugar and soap poultice. Mix a little sugar and a little soap to make a paste, apply it to the area of the splinter and put a plaster on it. This seems to draw the splinter out enabling you to squeeze it out or get it with a needle - gently!

Soak foot (or whatever) in hot water for 15 mins in which you have dissolved Epsom Salts. Dry site thoroughly, spread Manuka honey on a band aid, stick over splinter and leave overnight. Then squeeze or remove with pointy tweezers.
you'll need a needle and tweezers. just push the needle in your skin just under the splinter and poke it out and then use the tweezers to pull it out. the splinter should only be in the top layer of skin so it wont be as painful as it sounds!
