When you know nothing about the topic, and have been engaged in a conversation where you are expected to contribute.
1. Crack a joke. If you can make one up fast enough, this can distract people.
2. Ask the other person questions. People love to blather on.
3. Steer the conversation into a different arena. ''But didn't you find it was...'', ''Well yes, it sort of reminds me of...''
4. Be vague. Toss around a few general phrases.
5. Violently agree with the other person's opinion, thus prompting them to throw you pieces of opinion you can then pass off as your own.
6. Excuse yourself from the situation. Ask them to hold that thought, you're just getting a top up. Pretend you felt your phone vibrating. Anything.
