All the advice is good but mine is for when you are actually sitting down studying. Make sure you dont have any distractions ie phone, tv etc BUT find some Mozart music and play it while you study. Im a teacher in real life and studies have been done on this (and Ive proven it countless times) the rythems in his compostions actually help you focus on studing and more importantly retaining what your studying. Cannot recommend this highly enough.xx
Have you tried going for a brisk walk or a swim before settling down to studying? I try to get lots of fresh air while studying and doing a bit of exercise first helps too, I find. Then you don't feel as if your whole day is taken up by books etc. Also, keep reminding yourself that you really will regret, later on, not making a few sacrifices now. Good Luck!
Make sure you're getting enough good sleep (not the tossing and turning anxiety riddled kind) and make a little time each day to do something else just for you, whether it's staring out the window with some tea for five minutes or a half hour bath or just chatting with a friend. I finished my exams last year and those things worked for me. Good luck!
I've been in your situation. I revised in my room with background music on. The library is always a good idea, but so is the local park or coffee shop. Get some space, relax and clear your head. Good luck with everything x
Your brain works in 15 minute increments so tell yourself that you will only study in 15 minute shifts.
Your first shift should be as soon as you wake up in the morning and your last one should be just before you go to bed.
Try playing soft insturmental music while studying.
I found listening to soft music in the background helped me heaps as well with concentrating.I also tried to set myself lots of little goals to finish which soon added up to a lot of work revising!
I find it helps if you revise somewhere other then the house.. i.e the a public library because then there isn't anything to distract you and you feel you actually have to do the work because people are watching you. It really makes you get your head down and do it!
Make a revision plan and try to stick to it. Revise certain subjects for a certain amount of hours per day. This motivates you to actually work.
You can never start revising too early. It's better to start and do little bits at a time rather than cram. Plus, if you do this, you get used to revising at home more quickly. And once you're used to revising at home, you can concentrate on ANYTHING.
for me its all about the rewards. grab a big lot of something you love and promise yourself a little bit everytime you cover that topic/section
whether its a huge slab of galaxy, a spoonful of ben n jerrys, a cigarette, a phone call, half hour on your favourite xbox game, whatever, a slong as its something your willing to work for. x*
people say that taking breaks works, but for me i think it just distracts you. put your head down and get on with it, actually worrying about the result of NOT revising will force you into a frenzie to revise!
