Better than drinking the water all at once is to alternate between alcoholic drinks and water all night. Don't let yourself do another shot or get a new drink until you've finished an entire glass of water.
Slug away on 1-2 pints of water and a couple of aspirin before you hit the hay. If you wake up feeling a little bit groggy pop one Berocca into some water (orange flavoured magic vitamins-you can buy from your pharmacist) and sip slowly. It contains vitamins and salts to help you recover
and hydrate!
What I find works best for me is drinking a clear liquor with water (ie vodka and water). I know this sounds hard-core, but if you squeeze 3 limes into it, it tastes like lime water. I've converted plenty of my friends this way, and they always call me to tell me how great it is.
A pint of fresh orange juice with an anadin before hitting the sack should help prevent the blinding headache the morning after the night before.
And don't mix grape and grain - i.e. stick to wine or stick to beer - don't mix!!
Take an ibrupofen tablet before you go to bed - it honestly does work!! My boyfriend could never get out of bed the morning after he'd been drinking, let alone go out drinking again, he went on a stag weekend recently so I let him in on this trick and all the boys were amazed as he was up at 8 in the morning with a fry up and a pint!! If you don't have any ibrupofen paracetomol are the next best thing, not quite as good but have a similar effect!
Try to remember (or get someone who may not be as drunk as you) to have two pieces of toast and at least one big glass of water before bed! Also keep some by the side of your bed for those dry mouthed middle of the night moments!
Eat carbs before you go out, pasta for lunch and something with rice in for dinner. When you're out avoid anything fizzy like alcopops or mixed drinks like vodka and coke , I tend to stick to spirits as they're 'clean' drinks and don't contain loads of sugar and flavourings. Alternate between water and alcohol - for every 3 shots I drink, I have a pint of water. Always drink the same type of alcohol, so if you're a spirits drinker, you'll get drunk faster from less wine or beer and vice versa. Never mix your drinks! Stay with one type of drink on a night out - so either drink beer, or spirits, or wine etc. rather than 2 alcopops, a glass of wine, a pint of lager, shots. Make sure you keep a drink by your bed when you go to sleep, so you don't become dehydrated.

Gosh why are we so stupid we poison ourelves for fun then loose the next day ~ tee hee ~eat a decent meal before drinking, don't mix drinks & drink a huge glass of water before bed ~ remember what Dean Martin said 'I feel sorry for people who don't drink because when they waken up in the morning thats how they're going to feel all day' xxx
