If you're hanging more than one picture on the same wall, lay the pictures/frames on the floor or other large surface first. Try to keep about a hand-width of space in between each frame to let the arrangement "breathe" visually. Move the frames around until you get an arrangement you like. Then turn the pictures over, note where the wire comes on each, measure properly, and put the nails in the wall according to your measurements.
