Get him something that he wouldn't buy himself but would use. For example, I've been told the best anniversary presents I gave was a workbench and a grinder two anniversaries ago. He uses them all the time and raves about what good gift choices they were.

If you really want to give him something that is a permanent reminder, how about some really smart cufflinks!

Type 'experience days' into Google and voila!

What about a night out at the theatre or a meal out followed by a night in a hotel!!!!! If you have children you could ask your parents to look after them and just be on your own for a wee while. Have fun!!

Could you afford to take him away for a weekend somewhere peaceful or lively, depending on your tastes? How about a photo of yourselves, including your children if you have any, taken by a professional photographer (not that expensive actually). OR you could have a 'risque' photo taken of yourself, tastefully done of course, to have up in your bedroom.
