Act the part. You'll eventually feel confident with time. Remember, no one knows how you truly feel inside. Before any big presentations or meetings, I remind myself that no one knows I'm nervous and they won't know if I've made a mistake unless I tell them. Just like performers - they mess up all the time, but the audience never knows!

Think of what you can do, not what you can't. No-one is perfect, we all doubt ourselves, so take comfort in the fact even your most together-looking colleague/friend has doubts about herself. Confident people have insecurities, but don't let them prevent them from acting anyway. Only you can develop inner confidence, which is hard, but not impossible. Before any situation, ask"what's the worst that can happen?" We often catastrophise situations, making us live our lives in fear. In fact, the worst case scenario is very unlikely to happen, and no-one has ever died from embarrassment, failure or making a muppet of themselves. It happens to everyone at some point in their life!It's people who can grow from their mistakes, and take risks in themselves, who develop confidence. So go on, have a little faith in yourself, and give it a go -you may just surprise yourself!

I lost my confidence two or three years back, because of loads of problems at school and I was always really down. but I decided that I should do something without, so every morning when I get up, I say something nice about myself 3 times, whilst looking in the mirror and then at night, I just close my eyes and do the same. I know it sounds stupid, but it does work! I'm totally happy now!

You could approach this a number of ways. Is there anything you are good at? Build on that. And join a group that allows you to use that talent. Or set yourself a challenge; it's been my experience that overcoming challenges makes for more confidence. Also, a lot of the folks you see who seem so confident are putting on an act. Even the most confident-seeming people have something that they are shy about; they are just better at hiding it.

To be confident in yourself you should flaunt yourself but yet not cocky you should practice your walk (not to OTT) You should feel as if all eyes are on you and you dont care..you should b (a) Careless a certain type of breezyness (b) Your walk of corse (c) If people talk about you good or bad you should always act breezy if they contact you head on! (d) If people whisper about you behind your back flip your hair give a smile and that will stop them in their tracks (deer in headlights sydrome) (e) If you want to be confident you should never focus on people looking or staring at you (giving you looks) most of this is probably your imagination get a friend over and have a laugh or talk about something to talk your mind off your self conciousness

When I am feeling a bit incompetent, and need a boost, I simply lift my chin. It straightens out my back, I stand taller, and people look in my face, not at my forehead.

You get confident if you put up yourself and TALK. Talking is the best way to get confident. Most of the shy you might say "oh god, no I cannot do this!" but hey, just try out. If you stand in the supermarket or anywhere where people are, look around for a person which has something on him/her you like (maybe a nice skirt, or just good hair) then go straight to him/her and say (lets take the skirt) "oh my god, what a nice skirt! Where did you buy it" and then of course if she/he (lets take he afterwards cause I dont think you will tell a man he got a nice skirt) gave you an anwer and she/he smiles at you friendly say "Hi, I am ...." and give your hand to shake. You will see, it makes you confident and its gonna make you know new people! Try it! :D

Fake it. At least at first. It will begin to come naturally. Keep your head up and shoulders back. Check your posture often, walk with purpose. Remember, you ARE important in this world and have lots to offer. So act like it.

Hold in your abdomen (don't hold your breath) and it will automatically straighten your posture and make you feel more attractive. It is easier to feel confident when you feel attractive. Also, look everyone in the eye, even if this is hard for you, and keep a slight smile on your face. People will respond to you positively and you will feel like others like you.

wear what YOU feel good in. Don't wear something just because it's in Topshop or whatever, if you having something that you feel good in, wear it! You will oooze confidence and that is FAR more attractive and appealing that a girl being dressed in something trendy but not really 'wearing' it. This works for me and people prefer individuality than someone who follows the crowd!

Write down and keep a list of nice things people have said to you. Everything from birthday card sentiments, yearbook signings, compliments on anything, no matter how superficial or trivial, if it makes you feel good about yourself, write it down...Then re-read it frequently, especially when you're feeling down. After a while, you'll start to be able remember them easily and they'll stick with you, and in my experience, it really does help my confidence! (and it makes the rude comments easier to forget!)

people say confidence comes from within, but i think confedence is something reflected back from others. the 1st step to feeling good is looking good so wear somthing diffrent each day that makes u feel special. it could be a peice of jewelry to ur favorate jeans it doesnt matter! if ur feeling low just look at ur special item of that day and remind urself how gr8 u look with it on! ul imidatly walk taller and it always garenties a smile:) others will notice this and aproche, talk or even flirt hehe! wich will reflect back on u and make u feel fabulous in ur own skin.

Confidence comes from us being honest about who we are and what we want to do, in conjunction with being honest about what we can and can't do. Very often we say that we can't do something, because we don't actually want to do it or we fear failure. Not doing something for these reasons erodes confidence. If you need to do something that you haven't done before, don't say "I can't", say, "I don't know, but I'll give it a go". Give it a go: celebrate your successes and learn from your mistakes. Life's an education, you have to live it to learn its lessons.

Confidence is a toughy - often I see people who have amazing self confidence and its not clear why. I know other people who have so much going for them but don't have the same self confidence. All I can say is be prepared - for exams revise smartly and in plenty of time - for parties/events, make sure you know the dress code and wear something that makes you feel fab - have a few questions to ask new people you meet (what do you do, have you read ...) and then sit back and let the other person talk - most people like to talk about themselves and everyone loves a good listener - Smile - people will gravitate towards happy looking people and be well disposed towards them above all - be yourself and the people you would really like to know will want to know you too.

If you think your confident you will ooze confidence! Head up, shoulders back, and walk down the road like you own that damn road ha ha! Honestly if you made the effort to look good and you look in the mirror and say yeah i look good thats the start, you walk tall and you will notice the difference very quickly!

Stick compliments to your mirror with blu-tack reading them whenever you need to look in the mirror will boost your self esstem and u will find yourself saying them all day!!:)

Pretend that you are feeling confident. If you do this often you start tp believe it and truly feel confident!! it really works!
