if your mascara is getting a bit dry and cakey boil some water and pour into a mug, put the mascara in and the dry mascara melts and goes more liquidy, therefore recycling your old mascaras! if the tube keeps floating hold it down (the top should be sticking out)
be warned however, if the water is too hot it may cause your tube of mascara to expand so leave it to cool a bit first or use a hot tap instead!
keep it in the fridge - it makes it last longer and stops it from drying up. Plus it is lovely and cool if your eyes are puffy from the night before :-)
Don't keep mascara for too long as bacteria build up inside and could even cause eye infections.
You will know when your mascara has dried out when you stop hearing the pop noise when you take the wand out of the bottle. This is usually a good indication to buy a new one!!
Try resting the tube on a warm radiator so that the last remnants "melt". It works! Don't forget about it though as you'll have a melted sticky mess if you don't move it.
To get the very last out of my mascara I pop it into a mug and then pour hot water over it for a couple of minutes - it amkes the mascara easy to apply and curls your lashes at the same time.Best to buy a new mascara every six months as you only have one pair of eyes though.
I cut the bottom off the mascara tube/container (very carefully!) with a craft knife ~ the wand rarely reaches the bottom of the container so you should find a whole load more of the lovely stuff lurking there. Use some cling film & a rubber band to close the hole after use and you can continue to dip in as long as it lasts!
I put a drop of babyoil on the brush and then mix it in with the remaining mascara in the bottle. it makes it smooth again and you get another week or fortnight use out of it.
its always best not to pump your mascara which dries it up twice as fast. but you should change your mascara every 3 months because bacteria starts to grow in it!!!
Mascaras are meant to be changed every 3 months as harmful bacteria may grow in the tube, If you get an eye infection it is also better to discard your old mascara afterwards. To get that one last use of your mascara fill a mug with boiling water and place the tube (closed) into it for a couple of minutes!
Hope Ive Helped

Even rolling it between your hands to gently warm it should help you eek out the last few bits.
Also sounds obvious but screw the lid on really tightly to stop it drying it out more and try to resist pumping the brush in and out of the tube too much as this drives air in and will dry upthe contents quicker. Wipe the top of the tube clean every now and then as the gloopy bits that dry on round the rim will prevent you from having a tight seal when you close it.
It's not really a good idea to make the mascara last longer. The wand gets germs on it from your eyelashes, the air, etc and then they go to live in the mascara tube. Trust me--save yourself from an eye infection (or something worse) and always toss eye make-up when it's time. It will be better to spend another few dollars on a new mascara than to spend a lot more on medical bills and have to deal with the consequences of those germs in your eyes.
Sounds odd but if you put a tiny drop of make-up remover into your old clumpy dried out mascara and shake it all about you can get a few more uses out of it, ideal for just before pay day!
For starters, dont pull the brush in and out of the bottle cause that just traps air and causes it to dry out. if it does genuinly dry out then put a small drop of water into the bottle and shake it, should make it last longer.
when putting mascara on, instead of pumping the wand up and down in the tube, twist it. this way it is less likely to dry up because there is less air getting in, and you will get more mascara on the wand :)
If your mascara is getting a bit clumpy and you have no time to buy a new one,i suggest you get your hair dryer and give your mascara a blow then it will melt any dry bits,so you'll end up with clump free mascara.
Also, when you are applying your mascara, when you put the wand back into the tube to get more, never plump the wand in and out, as it causes air to get into the mascara, making it go all disgusting.
