I've heard that Alka-Seltzer works. Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and
drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly -- even though the product was never been advertised for this use.
Just remember that even though you have symptoms of a UTI doesn't mean it is. There are a handful of other things that can cause it, so going to the doctor for lab tests a correct diagnosis is always the best idea. If it is a UTI, most will give you an antibiotic. Just be careful if you're prone to yeast infections, as antibiotics can cause them, so if you are, be sure to use those yeast creams you get from the drugstore the whole time you're using the antibiotic.
I just recovered from a pretty bad upper UTI and was I was prescribed a 3 day course of antibiotics that didn't work. Upon a return visit was given another weeks course which cleared it up no problem. It was horrible though, back pain and constantly wanting to urinate.
Be careful, I was advised not to overdo the cranberry juice as I have a blood disorder. Good job the Nurse told me so, as I had planned to stock up on it as well. Apparently it can raise the potassium levels in your blood. Aside from that, I'm not 100% as to how it affects you for sure, but that's the advice I was given anyway. Was also advised to drink plenty of Lemon Barley water as well, helps to flush out your system.
