I use a magent called magnopulse, it is attached to your underwear and it really takes the edge of the pain. Unless I'm having a really bad month it usually stops me needing to use pain killers. I'm usually all about the tablets I can take to relieve the pain but came across the magnet by chance - it really helps.

Crack out the painkillers, sprawl on the couch with a hot water bottle and get your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife/kids to wait on you with sliced up fruit and melted chocolate for dippin' as you watch trashy TV. Works a charm

eating bananas gives off a hormone which reduces the pain caused by PMS.

A hot water bottle on your tummy. A warming massage on your back. Exercise! And, if all else fails, tablets!!

Calcium...all month. Make sure you're getting at least 1200 mg. Drink plenty of water all month too. Lastly, if the cramps do strike, try a hot pad.

i take femnex tablets they stop the pain straight away after 1 hour you can get them from your local chemist and are 3.99 pounds hope i have helped

I use Pamprin (Maximum Strength), an OTC med for cramp relief. It really helps me. Warm baths often help. If it is severe, you may want to ask your gynecologist about a low-dose birth control pill to help control the symptoms (Yasmin worked really well for this for me--light, light periods and I do not recall having ANY cramps at all!).

I find that drinking fizzy drinks such as coke give me bad period pains. milk works.

Frequent visits to the loo and disturbed nights!! Try to keep a change of clothes handy (in the car, in a locker at work). Put a folded, soft, thick towel between sheets on the bed and the mattress (easier to wash than the mattress). I have read that taking anti-inflammatory drugs for a few days before period is due will help stem the flow but, as I don't like taking tablets unnecessarily, I've not tried this. All you under 40's have got it all to come!!!!

Make sure you have tablets for the pain handy. Hot water bottles help with the pain too. Sorry if you're squeamish! Try and go the the loo often, and if you can, sit on the loo for about half an hour to let the blood drip into the loo rather than into a tampon/pad. If you're ok with tampons, get the thickest that you can and wear a pad too incase of leakages. If your periods are very heavy, ask your GP about going on the Pill or the injection (depo) as this can help lessen the flow (I know with depo I didn't have periods full stop)

I recommend going to a chiropractor. I used to have bad period pain but after starting to get my hips and the vertebrae in my back loosened up it allowed a lot more blood and nerve flow to my whole pelvic area and I feel SO much better when my period comes if I get regular adjustments.

If you're anything like me and get cramps from tampons and are too heavy at night to use just pads, try Instead soft cups. I will not use anything else now!! I think if you're in the UK you can get 3 different kinds- Keeper, Moon Cup and Diva. Some of them are re-usable too (the Instead is not.) All of the sudden, my periods are actually TOLERABLE! Wow.. I VERY highly recommend these things. Every woman should know about them! Just make sure you read the inserts that are in the boxes.

Try laying on your back out-stretched or curling up into a ball for about 5 minutes. This should help to reduce the pain. If this fails, then eat a couple of bananas. They're miracle workers for helping to soothe period pains. Hope this helps! =) x

I read this in a newspaper and it really worked for me. What you have to do is find the Sanuinjiao pressure point which is a small area above the ankle. Locate it by measuring the width of 4 fingers above the tip of the shin bone on the inside of the ankle. Move the 4rth finger slightly in towards the inside part of the legand press lightly. It will feel really tender. Press your thumb on the area for 6 seconds, release for 2 seconds. Do this for 5 mins then switch ankles. Repeat on the other ankle. It should take 20 mins in total. This is great if you don't want to take painkillers. It really eases cramps and can be done discreetly anywhere, in a meeting on the bus or at your desk.

If I get it bad, which I do every 4 months or so I just curl up in a ball with a hot water bottle. I find heat eases the pain alot, if I'm at work I keep one of those hand warmers in my desk drawer and sit with that for a while.

A course of B12 vitamins taken over a couple of weeks work. I found a magic gadget from Avon that is in the brochure periodically its a magnet that you wear next to your skin inside your underwear, it really works, sounds crazy but it helps with the pain.
