you need to realise that he is lying, my old ex used to say this to. There is no way that he can love you but not want to be with you. He may have some feelings left for you but he won't be in love with you. This is also one mistake guys make when they break up with a girl, they think if they say these nice things it will be easier for us to get over them. Wrong, it does the opposite, encourage him to be a tw*t, believe me, that will make it easier to get over him, then you can start to live your life again!

Completely cut ties with him. He doesn't really love you - his ego just needs the boost that knowing you adore him gives. He's just using your feelings to make himself feel good and that's a cruel way to behave towards any human being, never mind one you "still love". You need to move on, and you'll never do that with him still sniffing around.

My ex did this and I totally agree with the two girls below! All it did was to really upset me, screw my head up and prevent me from moving on. It means that he still has very strong feelings for you, but that he has decided that for whatever reason he doesn't want to be with you. I know it's really tough, but think about it really hard: why would you want to be with someone who doesn't want to be with you? Love yourself first, and by that I mean love yourself enough to get over him and to find someone who will make you happy.
