I was aghast about turning 30. I thought that I was feeling old until I was in a wreck at 28, necessitating cervical surgery and found a lump in my breast at 29, requiring extensive surgery. It was benign, however, I began to live life as if I had no tomorrow and am grateful for every day I am alive!
My boyfriend has just turned 30 and he was told that 30 is the best age - you're still young, fit and have your looks but you also have wisdom, experience and more secure in yourself to enjoy it.
Don't think of it as a huge change in your life... will you feel any different the day before your 30th to the day after? The answer is probably not. Just see it as another day!
You lucky thing, your 30s rock - I know, I've just turned 39 and it was the best decade of my life. In your 30s you are old enough to do exactly whatever you want, you have the confidence to finally stop worrying about what everyone thinks of you and the world is your oyster!
Also, think about the alternative - not turning 30, would you rather die at 29?
Take a deep beath and get ready for the future.
This is the decade where you start to come into your own. Your 20's are a decade of "firsts," first job, first time voting, first apartment, etc.. They were also, most likely, the decade of the most life mistakes. You're like a butterfly breaking out of a chrysalis. The 30's are when you become interesting and confident. You're spreading your wings and showing off your true colors.
I am fast approaching 32 and I have to say I have never felt better, I am happier than ever and now have the confidence and wisdom to change things around me if I'm not happy with. All I can say is ENJOY!!
Hear hear. 30 does seem a massive event but once 31 comes you just feel relief. Relief that you know who you are and where you are going ( the odd waiver allowed of course!), relief that you no longer try to wear clothes that don't work for you or try to be what you are not! I love the 30's! p.s hangovers get inexplicably worse tho! why is that?!
Wow - I'm forty four and I still feel pretty young. So thirty seems REALLY young to me. At any rate, it's all relative. You really are only as young as you feel.
