In selfridges they can make huge canvas collages-which is simply a huge canvas which can be decorated around the room, and you can give them photos, little things such as beads, the first cinema ticket you ever had with your sister, the birthday cards etc and they use image transfer to copy it onto the canvas. costs roughly around £50-£100 but its so meaningful and will last forever. perfect way to remind her of her 18 years of memories.
Think about something from your childhood, a private joke, her favorite toy or t.v. show and try to find a gift that will remind her of that. You can find beautiful 14kt charms that are shaped like everything from cartoon characters to soda bottles, something like that is a nice keepsake.
How about giving her the gift of an experience? Is there something she's always wanted to try but hasn't yet?
Whenever she thinks about her 18th birthday, she'll have the memory of this experience you've given her.
i had the excact same problem...i scanned different photos of my sis in her lifetime and put them into a massive picture frame and had it black and white, with special event like her formal and her birth pict in colour! out of all her presents this is one that she cherishes and values the most and it was relatively inexpensive to get the frame made!
A 'treasure box' is a great idea. Put all the meaningful things in her life - like childhood photos, baby teeth, Mum and Dad's wedding photo, her birth certificate, Special holiday snaps, school prizes etc etc. She can add to it all her life.
