For one of the weddings I recently participated as part of the bridal party in, the bride had made "activity packs" for the child attendants to use during the ceremony and reception. It included things like coloring books and crayons (colored pencils), kids books, stuffed animals, little games. One of the kids made her a wedding card during the ceremony--its one of her keepsakes now.
Bubbles are a great - and inexpensive - thing to add fun to a wedding, and it gives little bridespeople something to do when you come out of the service. They also look really cool in photos! Rice is very painful when thrown!
Try butterfiles. They are easy to maintain and most young girls love to watch the little catterpillar change. Its also really hopeful that bridesmaid who never seems to have a date and gets alittle resentful as the big day approaches.
You can get them from Insect Lore 1-800 Live bug.
It takes about 4 weeks for the catterpillars to turn into butterflies but its fun, builds moral with your bridal party and something everyone will remember.
Bridesmaids are actually supposed to attend to the bride. they play a very important role on the big day. They should be helpful to the bride by keeping her calm and relaxed. put someone in charge of providing upbeat music as everyone is getting ready. Put someone in charge of providing some healthy snacks and make sure the bride eats! Bridesmaids should also be conscious of the day's itinerary making sure that everyone stays on track and that the bride is ready to walk down the aisle on time.
oh you meant Flower Girl. Your bridesmaids are your best friends.
Ususally, the Flower Girls don't do much they're way too little. Either they're busy playing with the ring bearer or usually hanging out with her parents.
By bridesmaids you can mean either older ones (sisters, freinds etc) or little ones.
For little kiddies, don' worry too much as they'll be more interested in playing.
For older ones, ask them to make sure you're looking good, make sure everyone knows where they're sitting, helping you to the loo (wedding dresses are a nightmare!) As they're your bridesmaids you'll know what they enjoy doing.
I had three little ones and three big ones. The eldest looked after the little ones, made sure they were happy. The middle one helped the guests out while we were taking piccys and the youngest (who was shy) helped me with my veil and dress!
