Terrified or even phobic about a future engagement such as the dentist or a visit to the shops etc. then, THIS WORKS because I have tried it.
Repeat the phrase in your mind or out loud what you are afraid of, such as 'I've got to go the the dentist' , for about 15 minutes and before you know it your mind has wandered onto something else. It takes the terror out of the thought. Taken from Dr. Roger Baker's book - Understanding Panic Attacks and overcoming fear. A wonderful book.
When you start to feel anxious do some deep breathing, the out breath should be longer than the in breath. Ideally a count of 7 on the in breath and 11 on the out breath. Also recite over in your mind (or out loud if you can!) a few times - "Apprehension is just a feeling, it canot hurt me". Don't worry that sometimes you are apprehensive. Everyone feels it! xxx
Many years ago I was told to imagine the scary person you are sitting in front of wearing only their underwear - this works particularly well with older men - sock garters, baggy Y-fronts, total undressing! etc.
Also - and this was one when I was going through my divorce, and didn't have much money either - you DON'T die from it!!
Whatever your problem is - you'll always feel better afterwards, so why not start BEFORE it all happens!
If you're apprehensive about work meetings or presentations, just remember that preparation is the key. If you know that you've done your homework and are not going to be asked questions you don't know the answers to, you're nearly all the way there. Occasionally however, you won't know the answers and that's ok. Don't bluff it, just say you don't know but you'll find out.
If it's doctor/dentist stuff you're anxious about, just keep telling yourself "in xx minutes this will be over". Try to keep things in perspective - whatever's happening, it's a very short period in your life.
Try something like Bachs Rescue Remedy or Emergency Essence, available from herbalists or some chemists, when apprehensive about something ~ a couple of drops on the tongue & you should be fine. if you carry it with you you eventually don't always need it as long as you know you have it ~ psycological!
Goggle Candidiasis test. Candidiasis can cause a range of heath problems, from Depression, panic, anxiety (EVEN APPREHENSION - SOUNDS BIZARRE BUT AFTER OVERCOMING CANDIDIASIS I DONT GET NERVOUS/APPREHENSIVE LIKE I USED TO EVEN ABOUT MEETINGS/DENTIST 1ST DATE ETC),thrush, to stomach problems, IBS,spots, even linked to ME etc. Good news is it can be got rid of, if you have it I recommend Candigest Plus - much less of a problem with die off reaction (Not you - the yeast! google Candidiasis for more about die off), also A MUST immune care coloustrum (heals leaky gut - totally got rid of my anxiety/panic) - both avalible from immunecare.co.uk After Candigest get Caprylic Acid, then oregano oil, read Erica Whyte's book, but as for the diet, follow it but try omiting even complex carbs - should be protein and veg only for 3 months, contact me if you need advice x
