I had this problem and had my blood checked for anemia. When I was found to be anemic, I started taking iron supplements which have helped. My dermatologist told me that anemia is a common cause of hair loss and many women do not know this. Worth checking out.

How to deal with thinning hair

I don't know what kind of hair you have, but here's what I know for general care: 1. No dyes/straightening/perm/chemicals on your hair. 2. Limit the amount of heat you apply. Try to do without the hair dryer and/or straight iron a couple of times a week and use a product that helps protect the hair shaft from hot appliances. 3. A natural bristle brush helps, as does not using rubber bands or hair clips that pull out the hair. 4. Condition! Cream rinses help when combing hair out after a shower and you should use a deep conditioner on ocassion as well. You might also try a conditioning shampoo.

Flaxseed oil capsules are amazing. I'm usually cynical when I read stuff about health supplements but they were on cheap at my local health food shop so I thought what the hey and I bought them. After about 3-4 weeks of taking them my hair is thicker and shinier, so much so that people have started to comment, and I've even started wearing it curly again as it looks so much better and is not lanky like before. Good for skin and nails too...I'm definately a convert!

Your hair may be thinning as part of the hairs natural cycle and will grow back.

The first line of defense against hair loss is visiting a doctor to have your thyroid checked because often rapid hair loss is caused by low thyroid. Then start taking Biotin. I take one 1000 mcg of biotin a day in the form of a sublingual lozenge. The brand is Solaray (in the U.S.), but I am not sure that this matters. I have had good success with this (takes about 4 weeks to get started) and so have my friends. Good luck!

I'm not a hair dresser but the best advice I can offer is to try and let your hair dry naturally if possible, try not to wash it everyday and don't tie bobbles in tight if you can avoid it. All of the above makes your hair snap and willl weaken your hair making it more likely to thin. Also don't dye your hair at home always get it dyed at the hair dressers. There are Chinese herbal supplements you can buy to help increase your hair growth and prevent thinning. I hope this helps you.

Check with your doctor or specialist for Allopecia. If its stress related or hormonal they'll be able to help - otherwise you can also try an over the counter product called Pillfood - my mum had the same problem for no reason and it helped.

Have it layered, it not only looks longer, but a lot thicker too. Even if it is only short term, it works a treat!

First of all make sure you are getting enough vitamins and minerals - through a healthy diet mainly and using vitamin supplements as a last resort. Also, treat your hair with care - avoid harsh bleaches and colourants, and condition regularly.

This is something that i have trouble with but with these steps it does get better. Firstly when tying up your hair use thicker hair bands NEVER ELASTICS!! Your hair is at its weakest when it is wet so becareful not to tie it up then. Try not to subject your hair to a lot of heat e.g blow drying and straightening. If you are suffering from depression or stress it could be a sign of allopecia. Hope i helped :)

Massage your scalp. There are wonderful hair oils on the market or you could just use olive or jojoba oil to massage into your scalp, leave it on for a few minutes (overnigt if you don't mind ruining a pillow case.) and shampoo.

Keep blowdrying to a minimum and let you hair dry as natuaqlly as possible. Other remedies are the Noruican range of vitiamins from any health shop. Massage your scalp with six drops of Rosemary oil after you shampoo your hair, it wont make it greasy but will stimulate hair growth. Use rosemary shampoo & conditioners . Ive found all of the above work for me
