If you use liquid eyeliner, keep your eyes closed until it has dried. If you use a pencil eyeliner don't apply it too thickly and hold a tissue over it lightly to get rid of any excess that might leave a print. Also be careful not to leave pencil eyeliners in the heat, e.g. by a heater or radiator or in the sun, as this will melt them and make it more sticky and likely to leave a print.

How to apply eyeliner without smudging

Rest your elbow on a table and the underside of your palm against your chin to ensure that your 'application hand' is steady. Place your indexfinger of your other hand at the outercorner of your eye and move outward about a centimeter so that the skin of your eyelid is taut. Also, use the oldfashioned brush-type; the felttip pen ones look easier to use but oddly enough they aren't.

Try doing a dark, smoky look with your eyes. It leaves a lot more room for mistakes because you can take a q-tip or smudging stick and blend it in so it doesn't really matter if it's a bit sloppy. If you prefer the cleaner, edgy look, try liquid eyeliner instead. Most of them are pretty easy to wipe away mistakes before it dries too much.

Close your eye and pull slightly at the outer corner, and, using a dark powder eyeshadow or eyeliner pencil, apply all the way along, very close to lashes on the upper eyelid, almost as if you are drawing on the lashes. For the lower lashes apply it very close, for about a third of the way along, and try to smudge it a little.

Some people like to use sharp eye pencils, but to me not only are they a wee bit dangerous but I don't get good results. Warm the end of your eye pencil by rubbing gently on the back of your hand so that it is softer and slightly blunt. Then with your eye open gently sweep it from the inside out keeping close to your eyelashes. Alternatively you can shut the eye and pull it (ever so gently) slightly so that your eye lid is flat and gently draw a thin line following your eye lashes. Make sure you stop about halfway between the outside and middle of your eye lashes. Blend with a cotton bud and voila!

use a pencil liner around your whole eye then fill in the gaps between the upper lash and lid with a liquid liner. After this you can use a benefit product called she-laque or something like that which makes your make-up stay.

When I used pencil liners, I would warm the liner with a lighter or matches...not to a point of melting but just for a couple of seconds to make it more pliable (practice on your hand first). This also enriched the color. Now all I use are eye-shadow powder (mainly from MAC b/c they carry blacks & browns) and an eye-liner brush. It's easy to use and can be wet to get a darker coverage (but I rarely do this as I am blonde...only going out on special evenings). Helps with achieving a nice smokey eye too.

Put your index finger on the outer corner of your eye and pull gently towards your ear, this make the line straight and easy to draw a straight line. when applying the eyeline rest your elbow on a surface to give you a steady hand. Simple and works every time, ie been doing it for years and my friends all ask me to do theirs for them!

you can apply it on the outer or inner part of your eyelid I find it easier to apply it to your outer lid but it all depends....:)

Put a mirror under your face and look down. Then apply eyeliner. That makes a perfect result=D

Well what works for me is using the Urban Decay purple Magic Eyeshadow brush and fluid. You just apply eyeliner and then smooth the brush over the line, and it's like putting a seal on your eyeliner. It doesn't budge for me for the rest of the day!

You can also try not making a straight line with the pencil, but kind of dotting it between the eyelashes then either leave it like that and add mascara, or blend it in with the cotton.

To get a very deep sharp effect apply the eye liner to the inside of your eye lashes. It is a meathod that is used by many modles such as Kate Moss

If you're using a pencil liner, apply it in shorter strokes and blend the lines all together once you're done with a q-tip or something. The line will be a lot smoother, will cover up any mistakes, and is easier to manage than trying to draw a straight line across.

cut a piece of cotton wool, the type which is flat and very thin -the shape of your eye. and when your applying mascara or eyeliner or liquid eye liner use that as a guideline as you draw around your eyes. everytime your about to smudge you'll just get it on the cotton wool!

I actually find the felt pen type much easier, in fact for me, Rimmel do the best one. Also, when applying, I always have a cotton bud handy. Even if you do a really thick wonky line, u can damp the cotton bud and just draw along removing the excess, leaving a perfect line close to the lashes.

Number 1 Make sure your pencil is somewhat dull gives it a more sexy seductive look Number 2 When your eye is closed , pull your eye ( so its chinese looking) NO offence! then right along your eye lash line drag the pencil gently along so its not so dark then look at the result, and if u like it and want it darker repeat that step and if u dont like it well it wont be hard to wipe off with a Q tip bc it will be applied lightly.

Use a pen type eye liner. Gently dot around your upper eyelid just next to your eyelashes. Then gently join up the dots! A cotton bud dipped in a tiny amount of face cleanser helps clean up the eyeline.

once you have applied it, go over it with an eyeliner brush and then clean it up with a cotton bud so that there are no harsh lines. to make a softer look, go over it with brown eyeshadow.

Warm up your eyeliner, I tend to leave it next to my ghds for about 1min and then start applying! this seems to work because you dont have to brush your eyeliner over and over, it also stays on for longer and drys after application which makes it harder to rub off and make eyes messy!

When you've applied your eyeliner, smudge a little bit of talcum powder on the top of it. It works best if your eyeliner is pencil.

When you put on eyeliner, do so with your applying arm elbow resting on a dressing table or somewhere else flat at stable. It will help keep you hand steady and the line neater. Try a 'felt tip' style one instead of a liquid and brush, they're easier to get neat.

don't use eye cream before applying eyeliner - if you must use something try a gel which is less oily so less likey to cause smudges. apply a thin line of your face powder with a stiff angled eyeliner brush around your eye and apply your eyeliner over the top, them set the line with an eyeshadow in the same colour applied the same way as the face powder over the top

I use liquid eyeliner all the time. I find that collection 2000's is really good and the price is even better! If you're going for a single line from one corner of the eye to the other it's easiest if you're in good light and try and keep your hand as steady as possible. I find it easier to apply if i tilt my head back a little and keep my eye lids about half way open. It's a lot easier if you can rest the side of your hand on the edge of your cheek. If you want to go for an Amy Winehouse type flick it's best to mark the corner where you want the flick to finish so that you can match both sides up, and avoid wonkiness. Just in case i make a mistake i always have "pound land" make up wipes nearby!

As already said, apply tiny dots (with eye pencil) across your lash line and, make sure you have applied mascara to start with, it gives you a line to follow. A magnifying mirror helps.

If I want a doey, kohled dark eye I use an eyebrow pencil instead..it doesn't smudge as easily and stays put longer!
