I use a small blush brush, dip it in the talcum powder and shake it out really well, then brush the powder lightly at the roots. Fluff with your fingers, then you can use a wide toothed comb, but preferably not a brush. And definitely don't do it twice, it'll get nasty cakey.
I have just tried Moulton Brown's shampoo PLUM-KADU. It does seem to keep the grease down. It was expensive but nice and a 300ml bottle. If you are very careful try just a tiny, tiny bit of talcum power on your hands and gently fluff hair. At night before sleeping or when you get up. Maybe choose a day when you don't have to be anywhere in a hurry. Hope this will help.
Dont use shampoos like Herbal Essence, Head & Shoulders and Pantene for example becuase all of them have silicon - i think - in them which leaves a coat on your hair to make it look "shiny", and then the next day your hair is greasy. I use Tresseme.
I agree Tresemme is good and not expensive either- especially if you use the clarifying one which removes all the build-up from any products that you use so your hair will feel squeaky clean.
depending on your hair colour i would recommend a dry shampoo called BATISTE it is available from boots and costs about £2. i have been using it ever since i saw it recommended in a magazine article about camping/festivals, and i am so impressed with the results. when my hair looks a little greasy i spray some on, give my hair a rub, and then brush through and my hair looks all fluffy and clean again, rather than flat and lank. i have blonde-brown hair and the spray does not show up at all, however it is a whitish colour so is probably not best suited for black hair as it may take a lot of brushing to get the white out. overall, fantastic results and great price!
Hairspray works too. Spray your roots lightly and blow dry briefly. The spray will dry taking some of your grease with it.
I personally prefer the baby powder method (above) even though I have jet black hair and have to be careful about how much I use to avoid looking like I used baby powder in my hair. ;)
Baiste tropical is an absolute gem if ur got greasy roots or fringe and no time to wash your hair, especially is you have long hair that needs blow drying and straightening. its in a yellow aerosal can and can be got at most chemist like boots or superdrug for about 3 euro. the original one does the trick as well but doesn't smell as nice as the tropical.
The company Bumble & Bumble makes colored hair powder (I believe they now come in spray powder form, however) that are touted as being brilliant for this problem--I have been meaning to use the one for brunettes, but have not gotten to it yet! I have many of their products it has been my favorite brand (re: hair products) for years now. Try googling "Bumble and Bumble".
i have the same problem! that always happens to me. one tip is wash in the morning so it is really fresh.
i use head and shoulders shampoo and conditioner it is much better than any other shampoo i have used.
i have also found that if i ever staighten my hair it dosen't go greasy as quickly!
My advice is to wash your hair less often. Washing your hair once or twice a week is much better for your hair, ask any decent hairdresser. On the days when it starts looking a bit horrid give yourself a nice up do, the hair will stay up better if its a bit dirty. If you have short hair then put an alice band in your hair or wear a hair clip. I think that shampoos work differently for everyone and that your hair can get used to a shampoo. It might be an idea to get lots of sample shampoos and see what works for you, but if you find you are not achieving the same results after a while you could then switch to another brand.
i dont think there is . but mine used to go greasy like as son as i steped out the shower now it donst cause my hairdresser tolald me 2 wash it with shampoo twice then comb through with your fingers a bit of condidioner itll give it that extra smooth and shinnyness !!
There are four basic ways I've found that can help your hair look less greasy. If you've been short for time and haven't washed your hair for a day or two, you could simply brush through some talcum powder, and it drys up the visible grease. There is also a dry shampoo which you spray or dab on and brush through, and it works a treat. If you have a fringe, I've found that by washing it every day, letting it dry and then straightening it, it looks better. But the fourth tip is to wash it!
Use a shampoo made for oily hair but do not use conditioner (the point of conditioner is to add moisture, which you don't need if you have oily hair). If your hair is particularly oily (mine is), you'll need to wash your hair every day to get rid of the oil. Also, stay away from products that are supposed to make your hair shiny or smooth--those are just oil. You might also try a dry shampoo every other day.
i have a few solutions:
a) use either TreSemme HeleneCurtis shampoo or
Garnier Fruictis (the best ones for non greasy hair)
b) try rubbing in a little bit of beautifying water mousse (mousse except it doesn't make your hair hard or shape it, just makes it ungreasy, i also like to spray a bit of detangler/leave in conditioner in.
my fave is loreal frequent use anti-dandruff. it leaves hair shiny, with no flakes which you can get with overwashing and works on teenage hair. (my hair is very greasy at times) it comes in shampoo and 2 in 1 but no conditioner :(. Therefore i just use a cheapo sainsbury's one because the other products are good anyway.
You should use a shampoo and conditioner that isn't too rich. Maybe try using a moisturising shampoo and cutting out the conditioner the next time you wash to see how your hair reacts to it as sometimes conditioner can cause certain hair types to look greasy.
My sisters hair is prone to looking greasy just shortly after she has washed it, her solution is Sunsilk...they do a spray that covers it up and makes it smell fresh too! Even better, its only £1.99!
When washing your hair, use only a small amount of shampoo, about a 10p sizes coin, and massage all over. Rinse out after a few minutes, and then condition. When conditioning, use only a small amount again, but only put it on the ends of your hair, not the roots! This is what makes hair go greasy easier and quicker. Leave in for a couple of minutes, then wash out!
The best product for greasy hair is dry shampoo...great for inbetween washes as well.
2 great products - Batiste dry or lee stafford dry shampoo for oily roots (avaliable at most uk stores i.e. boots, supermarkets, superdrug.
hears something i found and tried, if you put a teaspoon of baking soda in your shampoo once or twice a week, it makes super clean shampoo(which cleans your hairsuper good). i read it in a spa book
I have greasy hair and have tried Batiste dry shampoo, Phil Smith dry shampoo (Sainsburys) and Lee Stafford. They are all great at getting rid of the grease but Lee Stafford wins hands down as it also makes my hair smell clean and fresh.
only use a small blob of shampoo and conditioner and light products (if any). If you wear ur hair down and fiddle with it, it will get greasier quicker. Also, I only use shampoo for every other wash. Shampoo strips out all the natural oils in your hair and the more you do this, the quicker ur scalp replaces them. Using shampoo every other wash counteracts this and I find my hair doesn't get greasy as quickly now!
