If you have home coloured your hair, and its come out too dark, wash it with Head and Shoulders shampoo, it will help 'strip' the colour.

A shampoo with SLS or Sodium Laurel Sulfate will lighten the hair colour...don't use anything else or you will risk the integrity of your hair. Shampoo once in the morning and once at night....bad shampoo fades hair colour.

Hot oil treatments that can be found at any drug store are notorious for stripping hair dye from dyed hair. It may not do the trick completely, but you should see results.

Use Dawn dishwashing liquid and/or put baking soda in with your shampoo and wash.

Bathing in Epsom Salts (2 -3 cups per bath) takes the black/blue tint out of hair and fades out colour that has accidentally turned Black instead of Dark Brown. Works better than Head and Shoulders!
