A good question- I have been in this situation. don't be intimidated by them- if you feel they're trying to rush you, tell them that you have as much right to be there as they do. They probably feel threatened by a woman able to use similar weights! I think it also says something about the culture of the gym you go to- ie. if this behaviour is allowed to go on, and you might even consider changing your gym. I think a lot is dependent on the staff- how vigilant they are and how much they interact with the members etc. The last gym I went to was excellent, and this type of behaviour would not have been tolerated. Worth shopping around maybe? Or standing your ground- whichever you feel most comfortable with.
How to not feel intimidated at the gym? I use a lot of the weights that the men use, but sometimes I feel they use their size to scare me away from the machines. How can I be less intimidated without seeming arrogant?

one thing worth trying is to actually embrace the guys - compliments in the gym go down waay too well - men and their muscles. If they're intimidating them, compliment them on their lifting, technique, form etc. they'll soon forget about trying to look big and strong in front of you. You never know, they might start doing the same and actually help you out in your gym time
